Europa League: Liverpool FC vs Lille OSC

It was only October that one of the culprits who dumped us out of the Champions League (seems too long ago doesn’t it?) was a French side. And now we welcome yet another French side, on the back of an away defeat, no less, as we try to overcome their one goal advantage and make an honest attempt at progressing through to the next round of the much coveted Europa League.
Yet this funny sounding French team come with a goal’s advantage and a threat that an away goal in their favor tonight will be quite an ordeal to overcome for Liverpool.
So expect Rafael Benitez to start his typically defensive line-up. As Aquilani seems to have got a bug after his terrific display against Portsmouth, Lucas will almost certainly start the game by the side of Argentina captain Javier Mascherano.
With Glen Johnson back, there should probably be a good display of attacking football, on at least the right wing-back position, if not anywhere else. Babel should really start the game on the left wing, rather than being consigned to he bench for another couple of years as he’s finally starting to find his feet at Liverpool. But knowing Benitez, he’s probably very likely to do something as delusional as putting Benayoun on the left instead. With Maxi cup-tied for this one, Kuyt will be doing the up-and-down runs on the right wing. Back four as usual and Torres up front.
Line Up?: (4-2-3-1): Reina; Johnson, Agger, Carragher, Insua; Lucas, Mascherano; Benayoun, Gerrard, Kuyt, Torres.
But I firmly belong to the attack is the best form of defense, and sincerely hope that Babel starts this one. Perhaps the good old 4-4-2 – with Babel up front with Torres and Benayoun on the left and Lucas on the bench – might still be the best system to play in Europe
Liverpool 2-0 Lille. Lets hope for the best.
